Cineplex's coast-to-coast movie festival revives throwbacks and classics

A few classics are making their way back to the big screen.

Cineplex has just announced a new year-round Flashback Film Series that will play some past fan-favourites, alongside older classics from their Classic Film Series.

The revamped festivals will be taking over the silver screen in dozens of cities across the country starting January 18.

The event offers a chance to watch these movies at a discount, bringing a line-up of 11 flicks back to theatres for a limited time.

Flashback Film Series line-up:

• Superman (screening January 18 to 31)
• Being John Malkovich 20th Anniversary (screening February 15 to 28)
• Thelma and Louise (screening March 1 to 14)
• Spaceballs (screening March 15 to 28)
• The Matrix 20th Anniversary (screening March 29 to April 11)

Classic Film Series 2019 line-up:

• The Sound of Music (screening starts January 27)
• Gone with the Wind 80th Anniversary (screening starts February 10)
• The African Queen (screening starts March 3)
• Easter Parade (screening starts April 14)
• Shadow of a Doubt (screening starts May 5)
• Kramer vs. Kramer (screening starts June 16)

Tickets for the films cost $6.99 per showing, which is roughly half the cost of seeing a new movie in theatres.

So, whether you’re into seeing an Austrian family sing their hearts out, a wacky take on Star Wars, or leather-clad ninja assassins defy the laws of physics, there’s something for you at the movies this year.
