What: Canada’s premier food and wine festival, the Vancouver International Wine Festival, features 160 wineries from 15 countries. Known as “one of the biggest and oldest wine events in the world,” the festival will feature a plethora of California Wines this year, the showcase region for 2019.

Attendees can expect to see over 1,500 wines poured at the 54 events over the festival’s nine-day run. As always, HQ for the wine fest will be the Vancouver Convention Centre, but more than 20 other restaurants and venues around the city will host winery dinners, lunches, and seminars.

Muzproposal Vancouver meetup/ networking event

What: Are you a single Muslim in the city looking for love? Muzproposal, a new Muslim relationship app, is about to change the dating game and will be holding its first meetup in Vancouver on Saturday, February, 23. Registration is now open and seats are limited. The app works similar to Bumble in that ladies make the first move. Users have 48 hours to reply and the rest is up to the potential couple! The Muzproposal app is available to download on Google Play and the App Store.

What: A comedy fundraiser for WE Villages, via International Conference Services (ICS), to benefit their project in Kanambu, Ecuador to construct a clean water system. Featuring stand-up sets from Yumi Nagashima and Steev Letts and a live musical set from Light Organ Records artist, Fake Shark.

What: This collaborative piece is built upon shared desires: to keep the conversation moving, to change what feels stuck or stagnant, to practice empathy and become better listeners, and to keep an authentic autonomy and group intention at play. Set in an environment striving to be in continuous transformation, the performers take charge of lighting and sound, shifting the movement in reaction to one another and the changing space. This creates a responsive, improvised state for those onstage and an enlivened experience for those witnessing.

Driverless Vehicle Demonstration Vancouver 2019

What: Between February 23 and March 3, the driverless shuttles will travel along a one-km-long route on West 1st Avenue between the northwest corner of the intersection of Manitoba Street and West 1st Avenue and the Canada Line’s Olympic Village Station parking lot. All rides are free to demonstrate the viability of such autonomous transportation technologies for the City of Surrey and City of Vancouver’s joint partnership for Infrastructure Canada Smart Cities Challenge bid of creating Canada’s first two collision-free multimodal corridors with driverless vehicles.
