Museum of Anthropology presents Shadows, Strings and Other Things

What: Over 250 puppets, old and new, from 15 countries, are illuminated in MOA’s new exhibition. From graceful Vietnamese water puppets and comical British hand puppets to the captivating stop-motion puppet animation of the award-winning Indigenous artist Amanda Strong—the full spectrum of human resilience and creativity is on display. With a focus on Asia, Europe and the Americas, the exhibition draws from MOA’s stunning international collection of puppets—the largest in Western Canada­—and reveals new acquisitions from China, Brazil, Sicily, Java, the UK and France.

An Evening with Stormy Daniels

What: Stormy Daniels, the American adult film actress who became embroiled in a legal battle with US President Donald Trump after alleging she was paid to keep quiet about an affair before he was elected, is coming to a Vancouver for a live Q-and-A session. She will there as part of a tour to promote her newly-published book, “Full Disclosure.” The event will be “an up-close-and-personal evening of conversation and audience Q&A, followed by a book signing and meet n’ greet,” according to The Rio.

What: Bard on the Beach is one of Canada’s largest not-for-profit, professional Shakespeare festivals. Presented in a magnificent setting on the waterfront in Vancouver’s Vanier Park, the festival offers Shakespeare’s plays, related dramas, and several special events on the BMO Mainstage and the Howard Family Stage from June through September. The lineup this year includes The Taming of the Shrew, Shakespeare in Love, All’s Well That Ends Well, and Coriolanus.

The VSO 100 Centennial Celebration
