Langara College is celebrating 49 years on 49th with a massive outdoor party

On June 15, Langara College is opening its doors to the public for Community Day presented by RBC Royal Bank. Enjoy a free day of live music with mainstage headliner 54-40, all day entertainment for all ages, food trucks, and all around great vibes.

A community-wide celebration, the day is part of the College’s Beyond 49 campaign, an 18-month long celebration of their 49th anniversary on West 49th Avenue.

Local Canadian rock legends 54-40 will headline the main stage with support from folk/pop singer-songwriter and CBC Searchlight Winner Desirée Dawson and other local bands, while musical production Rockin’ Robin will feature alongside fellow family-friendly performers on the Intercultural Stage.

Held on Saturday, June 15 from 11 am till 5 pm on Langara College’s main campus in Vancouver, the event will also feature live demonstrations, a kids zone, activities from Langara departments, prizes, and so much more!

Every anniversary needs a fitting celebration, and Langara College wants to have a day to commemorate nearly five decades of education, community impact, and student success!

No celebration is complete without food and treats. Enjoy some of Vancouver’s best food truck vendors including JAPADOG, Innocent Ice Cream, Rolling Cashew, Johnny’s Popsicles, and more, who will all be on site on the day, as well as a licensed beer and wine garden by community partners Parallel 49 and the Artisan Wine Shop. The garden will be open from 12 pm to 4:30 pm and is 19+, so bring two pieces of government-issued ID.

Need more reasons to attend? If you’re one of Langara’s 100,000+ alumni, reconnect in the Langaran Lounge and meet fellow Langarans at homecoming reunions throughout the day. The event will be the largest event in the College’s history and is open to everyone of all ages. Bring water, sunscreen, and a picnic blanket and take the day to celebrate the history of Langara College!

Getting there is easy; Langara College’s main campus is accessible by bus, by train to Langara-West 49th station and by bike along with Ontario St. Bikeway. The Bike Valet will be on site and limited parking is available.
