Goh Ballet presents Cinderella

  • What: In honour of its 40th anniversary, Goh Ballet presents the world premiere of the unforgettable classic fairytale, Cinderella, at The Centre on June 1 and June 2. This will be the first time ever that the public will see this rendition of Cinderella choreographed by Maina Gielgud, former Artistic Director of Australian Ballet and Royal Danish Ballet. The show will feature Principal Dancers Venus Villa and Rolando Sarabia, courtesy of the Washington Ballet, amongst a cast of almost 100 award-winning dance students from Goh Ballet.

Heart of Gold Gala 2018

  • What: The Heart and Stroke Foundation’s signature fundraiser supports life-saving research breakthroughs, and by joining the event, you’ll be part of the foundation’s commitment to improving women’s heart health. This year’s theme is New Orleans-inspired and is set to delight the senses with delicious food, wine, sounds, and experiences. The evening will commence with a live and silent auction, followed by a raffle and live entertainment.

Distant Worlds: Vancouver

  • What: A celebration of the music of the Final Fantasy video game series. Conducted by GRAMMY Award-winner Arnie Roth, the 100-musician Distant Worlds Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus plays alongside video from the popular games.

Mat Collective Free Yoga

  • What: Mat Collective is the largest outdoor yoga program in Western Canada. Aside from offering free outdoor yoga classes all summer long, Mat Collective will also be hosting several special events, including an Acro Jam in partnership with MEC and a class at BC Place in collaboration with the BC Lions.

55th Annual Mel Zajac Jr. International Swim Meet 

  • What: The Mel Zajac Jr. International Swim Meet was originally founded in 1963 as Canada Cup by legendary swim coach Howard Firby. His vision was to bring elite swimmers to Vancouver to race local athletes, both to inspire the community and to develop international talent right here at home. The meet has since grown to become a fixture in Canadian swimming and the largest of its kind in Western Canada.

Be A Life Saver: Free hands-only CPR and AED Training

  • What: Free hands-only CPR and AED Training led by BC Emergency Health Services. Each session lasts for 30 minutes and includes videos on how to perform hands-only CPR, how to use an AED and on the PulsePoint Respond App. As well as practical hands-on experience of hands-only CPR and the use of an AED. At the end of the session you will be able to recognize when someone is having a Sudden Cardiac Arrest, what you can do and how to increase their chances of survival until professional responders arrive.
