Almost 100 dancers bring this classic fairy tale to life in Vancouver next month

May 16 2018, 5:08 am

In honour of its 40th anniversary, Goh Ballet presents the world premiere of the unforgettable classic fairytale, Cinderella, at The Centre on June 1 and June 2.

This will be the first time ever that the public will see this rendition of Cinderella choreographed by Maina Gielgud, former Artistic Director of Australian Ballet and Royal Danish Ballet.

Vancouverites will be enchanted by the timeless fable of a young woman overcoming all odds to find her courage and true love’s destiny.

Gielgud’s original choreography is sure to delight with moments of comical asides, culminating to find the mate to that glass slipper – or in this case, that sparkly pointe shoe.

The show will feature Principal Dancers Venus Villa and Rolando Sarabia, courtesy of the Washington Ballet, amongst a cast of almost 100 award-winning dance students from Goh Ballet.

In collaboration with top artists, this premiere of Cinderella is a technical and innovative feat of original costuming by Deb Basterfield and Maryam Asgari, with video set design by Jamie Nesbitt, staged to the masterful music of Sergei Prokofiev.

The Executive Producer of Cinderella is Chan Hon Goh, former Principal Dancer of National Ballet of Canada

The show will take place on June 1 and 2, and tickets are available online.
