A summer of free outdoor yoga in Vancouver has returned.
Hosted by Mat Collective, these summer yoga classes will take place at Kits Beach, Granville Island, downtown, and Main Street.
Returning for its third year, Mat Collective started as a yoga mat recycling program — the only one of its kind in Canada. Now, it has grown into the largest outdoor yoga program in Western Canada. As of recently, Mat Collective is officially a non-profit organization.
“Our goal is to turn yoga mats headed to the landfill, into a resource for individuals and businesses looking to create a happier, healthier, city,” said Mat Collective in a release.
Aside from offering free outdoor yoga classes all summer long, Mat Collective will also be hosting several special events, including an Acro Jam in partnership with MEC, and a class at BC Place in collaboration with the BC Lions.
