Daniel Caesar

What: Fast-rising music superstar Daniel Caesar is bringing the Son of Spergy Tour to Rogers Arena on Sunday, Aug. 16.

The Asia and North American tour is in support of Caesar’s latest album, Son of Spergy, which debuted on the Billboard 200 at number four and on the Billboard R&B Album Chart at number one.

Caesar is also a Grammy winner who has performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, has two Tiny Desk Concerts under his belt, and scored big at the 2026 Junos for Best Contemporary R&B Recording of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.

10th Annual VMO Live Symphony Performance

Burnaby Village Museum – Summer Season

What: Fridays on Front, the popular free block party series, is firing back up in August on Front Street Mews in Downtown New West.

One of the region’s best street parties, Fridays on Front highlights artisan vendors, musical performances, and, of course, a lot of great food. And it’s a quick walk from both the New Westminster and Columbia Skytrain Stations.

Vines Art Festival

What: The 12th annual multidisciplinary Vines Art Festival features visual and performing artists showcasing their talents at parks throughout Vancouver. The festival states that it is rooted in Indigenous knowledge, queer-hearted, and neurodiverse-minded, with attendees able to enjoy free live music, dance, storytelling and more.

Richmond Garlic Festival

What: The Richmond Garlic Fest returns to Terra Nova Rural Park on Saturday, August 15 for a day of local food, live music, family activities and all things garlic.

Enjoy live birds-of-prey demonstrations, environmental and community exhibitors, local vendors, artists and artisans, and plenty of garlic-themed fun. Admission is by donation, with proceeds supporting the Sharing Farm’s work growing and sharing fresh produce with Richmond residents experiencing food insecurity.

Phoebe Bridgers Lost Weekend Planetarium Experience

What: A unique immersive Phoebe Bridgers album release party is coming to Vancouver. And it’s the only place in Canada to see it.

H.R MacMillan Space Centre and The Dome are teaming up to present Phoebe Bridgers Lost Weekend Planetarium Experience, just days before the music star releases her newest album, Lost Weekend.

Described as an “immersive music event,” the planetarium event will feature three listening sessions paired with one of two original visual experiences.

Bard on the Beach

What: Bard on the Beach is one of Canada’s largest not-for-profit, professional Shakespeare festivals. Presented in a magnificent setting on the waterfront in Vancouver’s Vanier Park, the festival offers Shakespeare’s plays, related dramas, and several special events from June through September each year.

This year’s offerings include The Merry Wives of Windsor, Macbeth, Goblin:Oedipus, and Antigone.

Vancouver Rise vs Halifax Tides

What: The weather isn’t the only thing heating up this summer. The playoff race is also red hot in the Northern Super League (NSL), and Vancouver Rise FC know that every point counts. Cheer on Vancouver’s local champions as they take on Halifax Tides FC at Swangard Stadium.

Snowbirds “Wings Over White Rock”

What: The City of White Rock is hosting a free 45-minute Canadian Forces Snowbirds aerial demonstration over the waterfront on Aug. 12 starting at 5:30 p.m.

The event is in honour of the team’s 55th anniversary and is the last chance to see the pilots in the iconic CT-114 Tutor. The City of White Rock also explained that the 431 Air Demonstration Team will transition into new CT-157 Siskin II aircraft expected in the 2030 season.

Outdoor Movie Nights in Surrey

What: As part of the Focus Movie Action Plan, the City of Surrey is hosting three outdoor movie nights in Surrey this summer.

Pull up a blanket or chair and watch How to Train Your Dragon on Aug. 10 at T.E. Scott Park, Inside Out on Aug 12. at Chimney Heights Park, and Frozen on Aug. 19 at Unwin Park.

What: Vancouver comedian Bradley Sakawsky presents a radical night of laughs inside a skateboard shop. Get ready for a lineup of the city’s funniest comedians curated by Sakawsky, with huge laughs, unique points of view, and more.

Comics this month will include Josh Fleming, Emily Qureshi, Kevin Appleby, Edem Kaminski, Abdul Ali and Matt Atkins.

Naomi Osaka: The Second Set

What: Kat Jayme, documentary filmmaker behind acclaimed works like The Grizzlie Truth, I’m Just Here for the Riot and Finding Big Country, is coming to Vancouver for a screening of Naomi Osaka: The Second Set. The theatrical director’s cut of the film will showcase the Japanese tennis great as she prepares for a return to the court after becoming a mother. There will also be a Q&A with Jame during the event.

GranVino Wine Walk 

What: GranVino Wine Walk is back on August 15, from 12 to 6 p.m. This will be a ticketed, walkable wine-and-nosh tour where local boutiques pair up with premier B.C. wineries to host fun in-store experiences and special promos.

More Than a Movie

What: Kids Up Front Vancouver, in partnership with BC Place and PavCo, will host its More Than a Movie event on Sunday, Aug. 16.

Families and individuals can purchase tickets to see Pixar’s Hoppers on the world’s second-largest four-sided centre-hung HD video board.

Each ticket purchased includes the admission of a youth from an equity-seeking group to attend for free. Each ticket, donated or purchased, includes admission to the movie as well as a hot dog, popcorn, and a fizzy drink.

Soccer & Technology from the FIFA Museum exhibit at Science World

What: Science World will fully embrace the FIFA World Cup spirit inside its walls, hosting an official soccer-themed exhibition from the FIFA Museum in Zurich, Switzerland.

Through five interactive zones — Broadcasting and Media, Intelligent Data, Refereeing and Fair Play, Staging the Game, and the Innovation Lab — guests will experience the tools shaping how soccer is played, officiated, watched, and understood.
