A Vancouver restaurant was just named the best in Canada at the Chinese Restaurant Awards | Daily Hive

The Chinese Restaurant Awards have just released their Elite 30 Canada Awards, and a Vancouver restaurant has been listed as the number one in all of Canada.

Earlier this month, the Chinese Restaurant Awards shared its list of 50 Honourees, most of which were comprised of restaurants from Vancouver or Richmond (a whopping 31 of the 50). From that list, the awards have revealed its ranked Elite 30 Canada Awards, naming Mott 32 as number one.

Technically, the award names both of Mott 32’s Toronto and Vancouver locations as number one, meaning we share the victory with Toronto.

“This year, we wanted the Awards to give diners a fuller picture of Chinese dining across Canada,” said Rae Kung, CEO of the Chinese Restaurant Awards. “The Elite 30 recognizes the restaurants, regional cuisines, and dishes worth discovering across the country.”

The Elite 30 Canada is selected by the Canada Taste Advisors Panel, a group of 21 members chaired by founding judge Lee Man. The list also includes Taste Advisor-recommended dishes at every restaurant, helping folks figure out what to order.

In addition to the Elite 30 Canada Awards, there are also individual award recipients. This includes the Dim Sum Chef of the Year, which was awarded to Wu Zhen Jun of Mott 32 in Vancouver.

Additionally, there is the Premier Visionary Award of the Year, which recognizes an individual whose contribution, leadership, innovation, or strategic vision has driven meaningful change in Chinese dining and has inspired the next generation of industry leaders. This award was given to Lee Man, who is the founding judge of the Chinese Restaurant Awards.
