'I can't wait to come back': Phil Rosenthal raves about Vancouver dining scene

Mar 9 2026, 5:12 pm

Phil Rosenthal was recently in Vancouver as part of Just For Laughs Vancouver, but those familiar with Rosenthal will not be surprised to hear that he also spent some time enjoying the local food scene during his visit.

Posted to his Instagram as part of his video series Phil Me In, Rosenthal made stops at two much-loved Vancouver restaurants, the first being Landmark Hot Pot House, located at 4023 Cambie St., Vancouver.

Rosenthal shared that they had essentially ordered the whole menu, with the standouts being crispy chicken wings, black pepper crab, fried sticky rice with Chinese sausage, and the Peking duck.

“They whip out your classic Chinese fare served with love, flavour, and a huge crab. It’s almost as big as the guy holding it. Watch out for that thing,” said Rosenthal in the video.

As for the second restaurant, he made a stop at the Michelin-recognized Dynasty Seafood Restaurant located at 108-777 W. Broadway, Vancouver, which was also recently named the number one Chinese restaurant in Canada.

Here, Rosenthal and company enjoyed select bites like scallop dumplings (which he shared he had never had before and loved). The meal also included calamari, crab dumplings, and baked Portuguese-style rice, which was filled with coconut curry, seafood, and cheese.

“Just talking about it’s making my mouth water,” said Rosenthal. “Vancouver, you’re not just funny, you’re delicious, and I can’t wait to come back.”

Rosenthal is an American T.V. writer best known for Everybody Loves Raymond and his food and travel documentaries, I’ll Have What Phil’s Having on PBS and Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix.
