A popular and beloved Vancouver radio duo that was laid off earlier this year has landed a new gig in Calgary.
Tyler Middleton and Lynch, who were the hosts of the drive-time show on 99.3 CFOX from 2 to 6 p.m., were fired as part of Corus’ layoffs back in June.
In an announcement earlier this week, the pair was welcomed to their new station like NBA superstars. They shared that they were excited to start a new gig at CJAY92, “Calgary’s Best Rock.”
The announcement was set up like a sports conference, with piped-in crowd noises and interesting questions. One of the questions was about their firing.
“I gotta ask, why’d you all get fired from your radio station in Vancouver?”
Lynch responded, “Uh, which time?”
“Yeah, we got fired twice, actually,” Middleton added.

The station is technically a Corus competitor, as Bell Media owns it, and there’s already a station page for The Tyler and Lynch Show on the CJAY92 website.
CJAY’s studios are located in the CTV Calgary building on Patina Rise. The station has been in operation since the 1970s and currently plays tunes as part of an active rock format, as opposed to the modern rock format that CFOX is broadcasting.
This announcement follows a tumultuous week for some Corus employees who were affected by the media company’s more recent layoffs. Yesterday, we published a story about Fiona Forbes, a well-known local host, who shared that she had lost her job due to layoffs and called it a “rude awakening.”
Before that, we learned that 46 Corus employees, including 26 journalists, were let go in Alberta and B.C.
