One of Vancouver’s newest entertainment destinations has suddenly closed its doors just two months after its grand opening.
Secret Arcade, a historical gaming and art-inspired space inside the 118-year-old Ellis Building, announced on social media over the B.C. Day long weekend that it had permanently closed its doors.

“Hey peeps. We are closed for GOOD. It was a dope little spot, one of the coolest rooms in Van. Secret Arcade is now Secret ArcaDEAD,” read the announcement.
Owner Kyle Seller previously told Daily Hive that he hoped that guests would enjoy the classic, old-school feel of Secret Arcade.
The Vancouver arcade housed 10 pinballs, five arcade cabinets, and a foosball table, and was set to free-play once you paid a flat entry fee.
Many of the machines have their own history in Vancouver, having been previously set up in bars such as Pub 340 and 12 Kings, as well as at Good Co., the Vancouver Fringe, and more.

Several commenters lamented the loss of the Vancouver arcade on social media, though admitted that they may be part of the reason why the business was not able to continue.
“I didn’t even have a chance to support. I guess I’m part of the problem,” said one person.
“Bummed I didn’t make it down to support,” added another.
Seller is also the owner of East Van Amusements and Industry Arcade in New Westminster, which are still in operation.
The latter is a free-play party rental arcade in the Braid Industrial, just minutes from the Sapperton Skytrain Station.
Daily Hive has reached out to Seller for more information about the closure of Secret Arcade.
