The holiday travel season is just around the corner, and Canadian travellers who are sticking closer to home are choosing Vancouver as one of the affordable destinations on their itinerary.

That’s according to a new report by online travel agency Kayak, which listed Vancouver as one of the holiday season’s most affordable destinations that Canadians are searching for travel information about.

The five cities on the list all have average airfares below $600, which is helpful at a time when some world destinations are getting more expensive to visit.

“Hosting for the holidays? The Best Coast is also among the season’s most affordable destinations to fly to, with average airfare of $580 and searches for flights to Vancouver up 3 per cent,” said Kayak in a release.

“Consider that a little encouragement for friends and family still debating the trip.”

There are many popular attractions to check out in town during the upcoming holidays, including the Vancouver Christmas Market, which is planning a “significant expansion” this year.

Two other Canadian cities made the list of the most affordable destinations for the 2026 holiday travel season.

Calgary had an average airfare of $518, and Toronto had an average cost to fly to of $524.
