TransLink gives SkyTrain map an epic Star Wars makeover (PHOTOS, MAP)
The folks at TransLink are clearly huge Star Wars fans, if this new galactic version of Metro Vancouver’s SkyTrain route and station map is any indication.

As a celebration of ‘May The Fourth Be With You,’ an international Star Wars appreciation day marked annually on May 4, a super-sized reimagined ‘SkyTrain Network’ map has been plastered just outside the east entrance into Metrotown Station, now also known as Mustafar Station.
Station names have been renamed after many fictional locations in the Star Wars universe, and some of the names also reflect the importance of the station. For instance, Waterfront Station — the regional transit hub — is named Coruscant, which is the capital of the Galactic Empire.
Some station names adopted from Star Wars also roughly mimic the real names of the stations; Olympic Village Station is Ewok Village, VCC-Clark Station is VCC-3PO, and Templeton Station is Tatooine.
The first letters of some temporary station names are also the first letters of the real station name.

Plenty of people passing through Metrotown Station have been stopping in front of the map to embrace their inner Star Wars fan and take photos, but in all likelihood the map will not be there for long.
There is no word on whether this map will be made available as a poster at TransLink’s merchandise store anytime soon.

Following the theme of the day, TransLink’s Twitter account has also been pumping out Star Wars-themed advisory tweets.
The Customer Information base is now open, we’re ready to take your calls & tweets. Currently road conditions look great in Metro Vancouver; however, Hoth is still experiencing icy conditions. #MayTheFourthBeWithYou ^LA pic.twitter.com/a4VKzJQUy9

As well, throughout the day, customer service representatives answering inquiries over Twitter have also added Star Wars references to their tweet replies.
It looks like they’re about to get back onto their regular routing. So once they can their Hyperdrives back they should be good to go! Are you waiting at a certain stop though, I can check if you’d like? ^LA

Service to the Death Star has been temporarily suspended. It was seen near Scarif in Surrey but our attempt at procuring enough TIE Fighters to handle the high capacity route has been difficult. Our feeble negotiation skills are no match for the dark side & Emperor Palpatine.^DA

Hoth might be a little to cold, especially without a emergency tauntaun, but if you let us know the 3 digit number of the train you are on we can call for a attendant to come and check it.^jd

Just a little longer then Han’s Kessel run, it takes about 31 parsecs.^jd

I don’t know, I think it would be fun to see Sarlaac pit…but from a very distance 🙂 ^jd

That is Degobah (Gateway Station)^jd

If you’re starting from the Rebel Base or Yavin IV, it takes about 17 parsecs BUT if you’re taking the Millennium Falcon, it only takes about 12 parsecs 😉 ^DA

It should be approx 16 parsecs to Geonosis! Once there you can transfer onto an Orray, I hear they are accepting Compass Cards now 🙂 ^LA

It must have been infiltrated by those pesky Borgs. We’ll have it investigated 😉 ^DA

The area that the USS Enterprise covers is not currently part of our service area but if you’d like you can make that suggestion (best to do that tomorrow – Star Trek Day). We found that the Millennium Falcon was the faster option, which is why we chose that technology. 😉 ^DA
