The brief closure was due to a deal that fell through – the Winking Judge had planned to give its space to the Donnelly Group, a Vancouver-based company that operates several pubs, cocktail clubs, and barbershops in Vancouver and Toronto.
The Winking Judge owner’s shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, thanking patrons for “incredible memories” and continuing to support the pub even after the temporary closures in November 2018.

To all our Patrons from near and far and to our beloved regular guests,
After 10 1/2 amazing years we have OFFICIALLY closed this time.
We feel so grateful to have made so many incredible memories here. After we thought we closed last November, to the re-opening. The continued support and friendship from you all made our last 5 months truly special.
We have kept our name so court will still be in session for this Winking Judge 😉
Thank you, it’s been an incredible ride.
Cheers,
Jill & Mike
