The Very Good Butchers to open a huge flagship location in Vancouver

Jan 6 2021, 10:23 pm

Victoria-based vegan food phenomenon The Very Good Butchers is officially opening a huge flagship location in Vancouver.

On a call with Dished Vancouver, the company’s CEOĀ Mitchell Scott shared details about the plans for a new 10,000-sq-ft facility slated to open at the Nickel at 285 West 5th in Mount Pleasant.

This mixed-used space is tentatively set to open in summer 2021. Approximately 6,000-to-7,0000-sq-ft will be used as a production space while the butchery and licensed restaurant will sprawl over 2,000-sq-ft.

Additional space will be used for a recipe and development area and a test kitchen.

The restaurant will offer seating for approximately 41 people and will be separated from the production space by a large glass wall, giving the room an open-concept “brewpub” vibe.

Dished is told an outdoor patio with seats for 24 is in the works as well.

The Vancouver flagship will offer a similar vibe and menu as the Victoria one, but we’re told folks can expect the handmade vegan comfort eats to be slightly more elevated here.

In addition to ready-to-eat and grab-and-go hot and cold morsels, The Very Good Butchers will offer customers a selection of its own packaged, butchered plant-based meats likeĀ Roast Beast or a pack of Bangers to name a few.

The restaurant in Victoria has vegan grub likeĀ BBQ jackfruit poutine with house-made cheeze curds, the Very Big Mac, nachos, and the brand’s signature Mac n’ Cheeze, just to give you an idea.

The butcher will also sell local products from other plant-based businesses.

If you’re looking for The Very Good Butchers products ahead of this opening, you can purchase them online or find them at different stores across BC.

We’ll keep you posted as more details are revealed. Stay tuned.
