Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is back in Vancouver, and he took to Instagram to share why he loves the city so much.
“Just got to show you this view, it is spectacular, one of my favourite cities in the world – Vancouver, Canada. Look, I’ve dropped my blood and sweat in this city, wrestled multiple matches in this city, shot big movies in this city,” says the wrestler turned movie star in the video.
The Rock goes on to talk about his experience playing CFL football and getting cut from the Calgary Stampeders.
“One thing that a lot of people don’t know that I want to share with you guys is that when I was 22 years old, I came to this city for the first time. I was playing in the Canadian Football League, playing my first pro football game. I was playing for the Calgary Stampeders, we were playing the BC Lions,” he said.
“I was so excited. Two days later, I got cut. Dreams shattered, sent home with seven bucks in my pocket. I was like, ‘wait no, I’ve got to play in the NFL, eventually. Those were my big goals, my dream.’ ”
But of course, The Rock ends it all off with an inspirational message.
“You realize that playing in the NFL was the best thing that never happened, because it got me here, so my point is you’re going to get your ass kicked, we’re gonna get the shit kicked out of us. You’ve got to get up and have faith that the one thing you wanted to happen often times is the best thing that never happened. So have faith, just keep that mind, and keep plugging away.”
The Rock is currently in Vancouver shooting his upcoming film Skyscraper from August 14 to November 17.
This isn’t the first time The Rock has shared his love for Van City. In July he took to Instagram to give a shout out to the city.
He gone. Quick trip up to Vancouver, Canada 🇨🇦 to do some prepping for our next film, “Skyscraper”. As producer, I must always maintain the 50,000ft vision of the movie and pose how I normally run for hotdogs. This’ll mark my third production in Vancouver. Excited to bring a movie of this massive scale to a city that’s always been so great to me dating back to my wrestling days and even before that when I played for the Canadian Football League. Happy to create lots a good jobs up there for the locals 🤙🏾 #Skyscraper #Vancouver #China
All this Vancouver love is making us fangirl over The Rock… even more.
