Many knew of the Green Men from watching Vancouver Canucks games, but didn’t exactly know what went on away from the rink. In this week’s episode, you’ll learn the full story of how my colleague and I amassed 250,000 followers, released a book and were inducted into the ESPN Hall of Fame.
It was a little strange coming out of the host seat to be the guest for this episode, but I’m happy I was able to tell the Green Men story my way. What began as just a little prank and fun on the big screen one night quickly became a travelling, endorsing and gyrating internet phenomenon. We ended up notching over 10 million YouTube views, helped raise over $100,000 for various charities, were interviewed over 500 times by the world’s biggest networks (BBC, ESPN, NBC etc) and were the first ever inductees into the ESPN Hall of Fans.
Most people saw it as two guys just having a little fun and that was truly the basis of it. We managed to parlay it into some incredible experiences though and some stories that we’ll remember for the rest of our lives. Check out this week’s trailer below…
I hope you enjoy and can subscribe to the podcast too. The video also gives some added insight and has some unseen footage in it as well. We can’t thank Vancouver and the fans throughout BC (and the world) enough for their support.
