This was a rare out-of-theme-park treat for Vancouverites. For its sixth ever participation in an international fireworks competition, the pyrotechnics team at Walt Disney World Resort’s theme parks in Florida staged a magical show at the 26th annual Honda Celebration of Light fireworks festival in Vancouver.

It was announced earlier today that the Disney team had won this year’s title while representing the United States, defeating the Netherlands’ Royal Fireworks and Australia’s Howard’s Fireworks.

The 25-minute show was launched from a barge at English Bay, just off the shores of downtown Vancouver, and attracted 600,000 people to the beaches and parks to the area. It marked a single-night attendance record for the event.

The pyrotechnics team is responsible for staging three nightly fireworks shows every night of the year at Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios. For the Vancouver show, they used some of the most iconic songs and music from Disney’s vast musical library, including “Circle of Life” from The Lion King, “Let It Go” from Frozen, “Under The Sea” from The Little Mermaid, and various themes from Star WarsPirates of the Caribbean, and Fantasia.
