18 can’t-miss deals to grab during Metro Vancouver's month-long food festival

Experiencing the post-Dine Out Vancouver blues? No need to fret because you can still experience some stellar eats as part of the return of Taste of the Tri-Cities.

Taking place from February 15 to March 15, select restaurants across Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody are offering special menus at discounted prices for you to enjoy.

Whether it’s a restaurant you’ve been meaning to try for a while now or a long-standing Tri-Cities favourite, there are plenty of places to go during this year’s festivities, but with so many options, it can be hard to choose which ones to check out.

That’s why we compiled a list of some standout offerings during this year’s Taste of the Tri-Cities. From multi-course feasts to sweet little treats, this list has it all.

Multi-course feasts

Ibex Café and Kitchen

Who said a multi-course meal had to be expensive? Ibex is serving up a three-course tapas menu featuring your choice of soup or salad, flatbread or chicken wings, and a slice of cake for $35.

Osteria Povera

Perfect for date night, Osteria Povera is offering a special three-course set menu for two for just $79 (plus 30% off any bottle of wine purchased alongside the menu). You’ll have your choice of appetizer with options like tonno carpaccio (tuna crudo with homemade garlic cremolata), choice of two pastas with options like tagliatelle ragu (house-made pasta, traditional ground beef rage and short rib slow-cooked for four hours) and linguine e salmone (white wine cream sauce, salmon, butter, lemon, and rosemary), and choice of tiramisu or torta al limone.

Jess’s Fine

Another great spot for a three-course meal, you’ll get your choice of the soup of the day or an apple cranberry walnut salad, alongside a choice between the Korean fried chicken burger or mushroom and leek risotto, and a final course of cheesecake.

Jimoco Cafe and Pasta Port Coquitlam

For those who don’t want to be limited when it comes to their multi-course feast, Jimoco is offering plenty of options when it comes to your choice of salad, dessert, and main course (think malfadine truffle chicken and radiatori shrimp pesto cream, to name a few).

Kosho Sushi Japanese Restaurant

Sushi fans are in for a treat with this Taste of the Tri-Cities menu. For $38.85, you’ll get your choice of starter (miso soup, seaweed salad, spring roll and tempura, or truffle salmon oshi and California taco), choice of entree (sashimi, California roll with nigiri, spicy chrashi, unagi donburi, salmon yakisoba, and black cod hot pot), and ice cream for dessert.

Original’s Mexicano

For those trying to spice up their date night, Original’s Mexicano is offering a three-course dinner for two starting at $75. You’ll have your choice of appetizer, entree, and dessert. Tasty options include its carne assada, chile relleno con tampiqueña (poblano pepper filled with cheese on three corn tortillas), and enchiladas de mole (Chef’s mole creation featuring nuts, chocolate, and a variety of dried peppers).

Me-n-Ed’s Pizza

The ultimate spot anyone who grew up in Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam would go to for birthdays and family outings, Me-n-Ed’s Pizza is offering a sample of any two of its small specialty premium or classic pizzas for just $36. However, this deal is exclusive to its Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam locations.

If you haven’t had the chance to head to celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s burger joint, take this as your opportunity. Monday to Friday, from 5 pm until close, it’s serving up a French Onion Burger with Fries for $23. All you have left to do after is hit up his long-awaited steakhouse.

Nagano Japanese Restaurant

Have you ever wanted to try omakase? Well, this might be the time to do it. For $99, you’ll be able to enjoy this expertly crafted 14-item omakase experience from Thursday through Sunday from 4:30 to 10 pm. However, reservations are required at least a day in advance, so be sure to get your table ready before they’re gone.
