Metro Vancouver cook plans to open his own restaurant after $1M lotto win

A Metro Vancouver cook is planning to open his own restaurant and become head chef after his recent $1 million lotto win.

Surrey’s Vinh Tran matched all 10 numbers to win the November 23, 2019, Lotto 6/49 Guaranteed $1 million prize.

Tran says he’s going to waste no time to fulfil his lifelong dream of opening up his own Vietnamese restaurant.

“I’m so happy, I can’t wait to be my own boss,” said Tran.

He purchased the winning ticket at Chimney Hill Town Pantry in Surrey and the first person he told after scanning the ticket was his best friend.

“At first he didn’t believe me — then he told me to cash it in,” Tran said. “Just take a chance, you never know.”
