Team behind much-loved Vancouver burger joint to open new 'turbo' concept

It was a sad day when Justin Cheung and Dominic Sai shared the news on Instagram that they had closed their hawker-inspired restaurant Potluck Hawker Eatery. However, at the time, the team shared that the space would be converted into an evolution of its sister restaurant: Street Hawker. Fast forward to today, and we’ve got all the deets on what the team is calling Street Hawker Turbo.
Similar to the original Street Hawker, this new outpost promises to serve up the same selection of mouthwatering dishes that combine comfort food with authentic Asian taste. Additionally, you’ll find some exclusive bites on the menu here that are not available at Street Hawker’s other location.
Highlights include signature items like the Pad Kra Pow! Smash Burger and a selection of wings in Golden Sand or Fish Sauce Caramel flavours, menu items that the restaurant said are a nod to classic Potluck Hawker offerings.

Another new menu item the team will be serving up is the Filet-O Sally, Cheung’s take on a classic fried fish sandwich that features crispy salmon katsu topped with tobiko tartar sauce.
But no burger spot is complete without milkshakes, and Street Hawker Turbo will be offering some unique flavours like pandan, Milo, and Thai tea. Plus, the spot will carry a selection of craft beers and imports.

“After opening Street Hawker on Main Street, we took advantage of an opportunity to add to the diverse landscape of Cambie Village, where we first started with Potluck Hawker Eatery,” said Cheung. “We wanted to carry forth all the great flavours that we had introduced to the city and the food industry five years ago and continue to push forward the bold flavours of Hawker markets throughout Asia.”
Street Hakwer Turbo will open its doors starting Dec. 19 at 11 a.m. Once open, it’ll operate daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
