The formerly four-strong Steamrollers mini-chain is now down to three locations, following the shutter of their Hornby location in downtown Vancouver this week.
Known for their steam-cooked burritos, Steamrollers Hornby was a favourite go-to for many the downtown office dwellers who loved their vegetarian, meaty, and even breakfast time burritos.
A call to the Steamrollers HQ yielded solely the response that “a new concept” from a new operator would be moving in. They would not provide further comment regarding why Steamrollers chose to close the Hornby location.
One rumour-level theory is that a popular Vancouver-bred chain specializing in Mexican fare is poised to take over the space, however reps for that restaurant company were not able to confirm as of yet.
In the meantime, signage on the Hornby Steamrollers encourages patrons to get their burrito fix resolved at one of their other three locations.
