Jethro's Fine Grub shutters third location after just 3 months

A big blow for fans of big breakfasts–and a surprising one, to say the least: Jethro’s Fine Grub has announced they’ve had to close their brand-new location in downtown.

Citingunforeseen circumstances beyond our control,” the diner’s third location was shuttered January 29.

Jethro’s had big plans for this big location; the 70-seater on Bute just off Robson was going to be open for damn near 24 hours daily, serving up their signature ginormous pancakes and casual diner-style grub into the wee hours and all-day.

The partnership of Emily Jane Stuart and husband D’Arcy Allen are the team behind Jethro’s. Stuart told Daily Hive last fall this new venture was particularly exciting, as they’d rebuilt the kitchen to be quite the workspace for chef Allen and the crew.

The two other Jethro’s locations remain unchanged.

Here’s the farewell message in full:

Dear Friends and Grub Lovers,

It is with a heavy heart we announce that due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control that our Downtown Bute location is now permanently closed.

The community was so welcoming and we were truly humbled by the support and love that we received from y’all—thank you for letting us feed you!

We hope that you will brave the bridges and join us at our West Side and East Van locations. Both are open 8am-4pm, seven days a week.

All the love, Jethro’s
