Watch movies under the stars in Squamish at this new drive-in movie series

A brand-new, drive-in movie series is coming to Sea-to-Sky country next month.

Taking place over three consecutive weekends, Drive-In Cinema Under The Stars will be held in the parking lot of the Sea to Sky Gondola.

Presented by by the Sea to Sky Gondola and Tourism Squamish, the selection of films will a mix of new and old, with appeal for the whole family.

Attendees are encouraged to “pull up your vehicle, get warm and cozy at Base Camp and enjoy the weekly food and beverage features.”

All the movies begin at 7 pm, and organizers suggest that people arrive between an hour-and-a-half and two hours before the movie starts. The earliest that vehicles will be allowed to park is 4 pm, and spaces are available first-come, first-served. Parking closes 30 minutes before screening (6:30 pm).

“Large Vehicles will be placed accordingly to ensure best viewing for everyone,” organizers note.

For those looking to get out of their vehicle, lawn chair seating is available at a cost of $10 per person, but attendees must provide their own lawn chair.

Organizers note the events will run rain or shine.

The cost to attend is $20 per vehicle, and payments can be made online or onsite – either with cash or credit card.

Once settled, movie-goers can also tune in to 89.5FM for audio.

The new series comes in the wake of the collapse of the gondola line back in August, in what police have now said was a deliberate criminal act of the gondola cable being cut.

The attraction will be closed for the foreseeable future due its inaccessibility as a result of the significant damage.
