RiverFest 2019

What: The 17th annual RiverFest is inspired by the Fraser River, and is in celebration of BC and World Rivers Day. There will be events throughout the week, with a main festival on September 21 with a family fun zone, live entertainment, an artisans marketplace, parade and more.

Fishy Finale

2019 Grand Prix of Art

What: Artists of all experience and age levels race against the clock in a three-hour painting challenge during the Grand Prix of Art. The public is welcome to view the artists in action at the 40 painting sites. Afterwards, the paintings will be exhibited to the public from 3 to 6 pm on Saturday, September 21, and will also be on display at Britannia Heritage Shipyards National Historic Site on Sunday, September 22 from 12 to 4 pm.

National Tree Day

Indonesia Fest

World Rivers Day

What: An event celebrating the 15th World Rivers Day and the 39th annual Rivers Day in British Columbia. Take part in demos, tours and crafts while enjoy live entertainment. Carousel rides will be available for $2.65 each, and the Ice Cream Parlour will be open.

Ioco Ghost Town Day

LET THEM EAT DIRT

What: LET THEM EAT DIRT: The Hunt For Our Kid’s Missing Microbes is a new documentary based on the book, “Let Them Eat Dirt”. The screening at the Rio Theatre will be followed by a Q&A moderated by journalist Kathryn Gretsinger, with Dr. Brett Finlay and Emmy Award-Winning producer Rivkah Beth Medow.

The Royal Air Force’s Red Arrows in Vancouver

What: The Royal Air Force (RAF), the United Kingdom’s aerial warfare force, are amidst their largest-ever visit to North America and their first tour in more than a decade.

The tour, which is centred around the RAF Red Arrows Aerobic Team, will be in Vancouver on September 24 and 26. Tuesday, September 24 involves an installation at Science World, followed by a Q&A with Red Arrows pilots and engineers. Thursday, September 26, will include a flypast by the Red Arrows, a photo booth, and activities at the Vancouver Harbour. Exact times will be announced by the RAF closer to the date on social media.

Granville Island Brewing’s Pop-Up Taproom at the Laneway Disco x New Forms Festival

There’s something special for everyone with unique handmade and vintage goods like jewellery, accessories, home décor, and treasures for kids. This one-day, cross-country marketplace is the largest pop-up to simultaneously take place in cities across Canada, including Toronto and Calgary.

Definitely Dali Exhibition

What: Chali-Rosso Art Gallery’s annual Definitely Dali exhibition is back for the summer. Enjoy original artwork by the great Spanish Surrealist master, every single day until the end of September. Vancouver Public Library Book Sale

What: Vancouver Public Library is holding a huge book sale from October 24 to 26, in the Alice McKay Room, at the VPL’s main branch at 350 West Georgia Street. More than just books, however, the sale will also feature CDs and video games among the offerings. All sales are final, and attendees are asked to bring their own bags to carry their new finds home in. Prices start at just 50 cents for some items, and anything that remains unsold by Saturday will be half price.

Fifth Annual Scarecrow Festival 2019

What: Art’s Nursery’s Annual Scarecrow Festival begins with a full day event on September 21 from 10 am to 4 pm, and features a DIY Build-a-Crow station, live entertainment, scavenger hunt, hayrides, and more. There will also be local vendors and food trucks to enjoy. The Scarecrow Festival is in support of Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society, Inclusion Langley Society, and The Versatile Society of Entertainers.

What: The 20th Annual Trick or Treat in Yaletown features the Antique Horse Carriage and the Doom Dome at Bill Curtis Square on Mainland Street, as well as Yaletown merchants handing out treats to children. Costumes are highly recommended.

Parade of Lost Souls: SOS

What: Taking place on November 2, the Cabaret’s annual Parade of Lost Souls features the most performance minded spirits, spectres, and ghouls in Vancouver. The event features jugglers, actors, singers, musicians, acrobats, and more in an inclusive celebration of the arts. This year’s theme is SOS: Save Our Souls.

Commemorate Remembrance Day

What: Events start with a non-denominational service at Kyle Centre. Ceremony finishes with a 21-Gun Cannon Salute at Seymour Artillery.

North Vancouver’s Shipyards Night Market

What: Gathering some of Vancouver’s best food vendors, this free event will feature a full farmers’ and artisan marketplace along with local food trucks and live entertainment weekly until 10 pm. Shipbuilders’ Square in North Vancouver will be transformed into a vibrant night market with 100+ vendors. Attendees can expect to chow down on grub from 40+ food trucks in “hot food alley” and enjoy live entertainment all summer long.
