Sony has shared the first details of its “next-generation” virtual reality (VR) system coming to the PlayStation 5.
In a statement on Tuesday, the company said that the system would bring “dramatic leaps in performance and interactivity.”
“Players will feel an even greater sense of presence and become even more immersed in their game worlds once they put on the new headset.”

Details are scarce at this point in time, but Sony has confirmed a new VR controller that will be released alongside the system. The controller “will incorporate some of the key features found in the DualSense wireless controller” but with a focus on greater ergonomics.
The company also says that the VR system will connect to the PS5 with a single cord in order to simplify setup and improve the ease-of-use.
A launch date for the PS5 VR also has yet to be announced, although Sony confirms that it will not launch in 2021.
