The Rio Theatre in Vancouver, voted the number one independent theatre in the city, has been around since 1938, showcasing cult-favourite movies, hosting live events and concerts, and offering standout sips and bites at its concession stand. Now, the theatre is gearing up to launch something new: a cafe and bar right next door to the theatre.

“Very excited to announce! COMING SOON… Next door to the Rio! The Rio Grindhouse Gallery Cafe/ Bar!” shared owner Corinne Lea on Instagram.

Other than that, not much is known about the new dual cafe and bar.

Many took to the comments to express their excitement for the new venture.

“I’ve always thought that space next door would be amazing! 🤩 Can’t wait to hear more about it ❤️,” shared one user.

“Oh, an indoor part of the Rio to wait for movies! Love it!” added another.

“Hell yeah, dood! That’ll be a great place to pop in after a show,” shared a third.
