While on a cruise from Seattle, English business magnate Richard Branson made a stop at a Price Rupert restaurant that served him what he called the best meal of his life.

Called Fukasaku, Branson took to Instagram to share his love for the restaurant.

“This was, hands down, the best meal of my life,” he wrote, snapping a picture with staff. He also autographed the menu.

Fukasaku is a small, 14-seat seafood and sushi restaurant that has been operating for over a decade. It focuses on using B.C. seafood, harvests, and products.

“The restaurant is right on the water, and they only use seafood caught by local fishermen. From the Maple Miso Glazed Black Cod to the seafood ramen — it was utterly delicious and I would recommend it to anyone who passes through,” added Branson.

The restaurant also shared the visit by Branson on its own Instagram.

“Not only did he enjoy every dish, he also left us this incredibly kind note on the menu.
Moments like this remind us how special Prince Rupert and our local food community truly are — and how incredible sustainable seafood can be when it’s treated with care and respect,” said Fukasaku.

Branson is best known for starting Virgin Records in 1972. Today, he is a co-founder of the Virgin Group, which spans a diverse assortment of ventures, including travel and leisure, telecom, health, and space tourism under the brand Virgin Galactic.
