Sneak Peek: Prado Cafe + Kitchen in Kitsilano (PHOTOS)

In just under one week the Prado Cafe + Kitchen will open the doors to its highly-anticipated Fir Street location in Kitsilano on March 1.

This location is the former digs of Cafe Bica, but Prado’s owner Sammy Piccolo and his team have made some seriously refreshing cosmetic changes to transform the space, including a bright and natural colour scheme and a handy window bar with additional seating.

This Prado location seats 26 people comfortably. In the warmer months there will be four tables in the front patio area, right next to the “Puppy Pit Stop” – an outdoor pole fixture where pet owners can leash up their dogs while enjoying the cafe (and the pups can enjoy complimentary dog treats).

A sleek new Victoria Arduino espresso machine tops the coffee bar, which is the same chic installation that Bica left behind.

Patrons at Prado’s newest spot can expect the same delicious Parallel 49 coffee, hot beverages, and baked goods, along with a wider variety of cakes and muffins.

Piccolo told Daily Hive that the concept behind the Kits location is similar to the cafe’s Fraser Street spot – the “kitchen” aspect of the cafe means a drool-worthy selection of savoury breakfast and lunch dishes like poached eggs, sandwiches, vegan wraps, couscous, quinoa, salads and homemade soups.

This Prado will also have two kinds of locally-brewed kombucha on tap, including flavours like raspberry and ginger, which people can use to fill up growlers.

Eventually, this location will also have a donation box for dog food and treats to be delivered to the SPCA, along with proceeds from mug sales which go towards helping pups in need.

It’s safe to say this new spot will quickly become a neighbourhood favourite for both humans and the #dogsofprado.

Prado Cafe + Kitchen in Kitsilano will be open Monday to Friday from 7 am to 8 pm, and weekends from 8 am to 7 pm.
