Gastown is buzzing over Nemesis Coffee

Nemesis Coffee is open, and despite what its name may imply, this new Gastown coffee bar will be your new best friend.

Nemesis, located at 302 West Hastings Street, soft-launched this week with short days, but the lineups for their offerings were long.

This highly-anticipated spot has been packed with curious passers-by along with patrons who’ve been waiting for the Tiffany-blue paper with the inverted heart to come off the windows for the past few months.

This pour-over coffee shop is tucked in the corner of the SFU building at Hastings and Hamilton, and it offers caffeine lovers a selection of blends including Five Elephant and Slate Coffee Roasters out of Seattle.

For food Nemesis has a selection of hot and cold breakfast and lunch items like salads and bowls alongside baked goods such as cookies and other sweet treats.

Some stand out items on the menu include the 3-way duck waffle with coffee-smoked duck breast, braised duck leg, and crispy rendered duck fat with cucumber and red eye hoisin. Nemesis also boasts an elevated version of avocado toast with ricotta, honey, and pea shoots.

The space itself is modern and sleek, a combo of crisp white and light wood with punches of vibrant green from the plants mounted across the walls and on the shelves.

With the spacey tables and floor-to-ceiling windows, Nemesis will undeniably become a study spot and work station for those wanting to get stuff done in an inspiring place.
