BC Parks increasing Porteau Cove parking enforcement

Sep 4 2020, 11:50 pm

BC Parks is stepping up parking enforcement at Porteau Cove over Labour Day weekend.

The park has been getting lots of visitors lately, and parks staff have noticed vehicles parked illegally in the day-use area and across the highway when the parking lot is full, according to a news release.

The provincial agency is sending more park rangers and operators to patrol the area starting Saturday, September 5, and drivers who park illegally will have their vehicles towed. Squamish RCMP will also help with highway patrols.

To be safe, visitors to Porteau Cove should only park in marked parking stalls.

The little park is a popular spot with both locals and tourists, but BC Parks said it’s also crucial that emergency vehicles have access to the pier. It’s sometimes used for marine rescues in Howe Sound.
