After two people were found dead inside a Coquitlam home on Monday afternoon, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has now taken conduct of the investigation.

According to police, officers were called to a residence on Seaton Avenue in Coquitlam around 3:30 pm.

Upon their arrival, they report finding two people deceased inside.

On Wednesday, IHIT Const. Harrison Mohr said evidence from the initial investigation indicates that one of the deceased was the victim of a homicide.

And “although the circumstances surrounding the death of the second person are still being
examined, we do not believe that there are any outstanding suspects,” he added.

Mohr said investigators can confirm that the two victims knew each other and police believe the entire incident “was contained within the residence.”

IHIT’s investigation is ongoing, and is focussed primarily on the one residence, he added.

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends affected by this tragedy.”

Mohr said investigators may be at the scene and in the neighbourhood for several more days as they continue to gather evidence.
