Persephone Brewing: Owning the beer-to-table movement on the Sunshine Coast (PHOTOS)

On an 11-acre farm in Gibsons, BC, there’s a charming brewery that’s more than just a place to stop and fill up a growler.
Persephone Brewing Company is a little slice of a heaven on the Sunshine Coast. Named after the boat from The Beachcombers (which aired on CBC starting in 1972), the quality of this brewery’s beer is only one of the reasons why both locals and visitors love it here.

Persephone’s land is used for growing its own hops as well as its beer production. It’s also home to the brewery’s own bee farm, fruit orchards, and a chicken coop – which houses a rooster – so eggs are a-plenty too.
There’s something about strolling through the hops yard, seeing the brewing process step-by-step before your eyes, and then sipping on the same beverage in the brewery’s barn-like tasting room all within one hour that’s pretty incredible.

Persephone’s is a certified B Corp – meaning its been recognized for its dedication to achieve environmental sustainability. Its achieved this by producing almost all the required ingredients for their beer and ciders on their own land.
This sustainable mindset continues through every stage of the beer-making process, even putting used grain and malt to use as fertilizer for the grounds.

Aside from the stunning grounds and the stellar beer, Persephone’s food game is seriously top notch.
While this spot has all the brewery staples like pepperoni sticks, they also have a gorgeous selection of grub from Farm to Feast, a repurposed Airstream luxury trailer/food truck.
This food purveyor serves West Coast donairs, wood-fired oven pizzas, perogies, and sausages made with ingredients from local farmers and foragers.
