Abbotsford Police are investigating after a man was killed while walking along Highway 1 early Wednesday morning.

According to APD Sgt. Judy Bird, emergency crews responded to a collision involving a pedestrian on Highway 1 between Clearbrook and McCallum Road at 2:52 am.

Upon arrival, emergency service workers located a man who had been struck by a vehicle in the right west-bound lane. The man had sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead.

“The driver called police, remained on scene and is cooperating with this investigation,” said Bird. “He did not sustain any injuries but was severely shaken.”

The names of those involved are not being released at this time, she added.

The Integrated Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team, police investigators, and BC Coroners Service continue their investigation this morning but advise that speed or impairment are not considered a factor.

Investigators are now seeking witnesses, CCTV footage and dashcam footage from those who may have been travelling on or near Highway 1 between 2:45 am an 3 am.

Anyone who can assist is asked to call the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.
