'Robust' rainfall warning issued as Metro Vancouver braces for wet week

Sep 29 2025, 7:49 pm

A rainfall warning has been issued for parts of Metro Vancouver, but it is expected to slow down later this afternoon.

The warning was issued earlier this morning for the North Shore (including West Vancouver and North Vancouver) and Howe Sound, with a “robust frontal system” to blame.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), after pushing through the South Coast, around 60 mm of rain is expected to fall in the region before tapering off this afternoon.

“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads,” ECCC said in the warning.

While no rainfall warning was issued for Vancouver proper, there’s lots of rain in store for the city, along with some pretty cool overnight temperatures.

However, for those who might already be missing the sunshine due to the recent string of autumn weather, there’s some hope on the horizon for you.

After five days of showers and periods of rain, including today, Vancouver could see some sunshine this weekend; however, overnight temperatures are expected to drop into the single digits.

It could also be quite the blustery day tomorrow afternoon, with wind gusts expected to rise to 50 km/h near the Strait of Georgia.

Considering this is the first significant string of typical Vancouver weather, are you thrilled with the cozy fall vibes, or do you miss the sunny days?
