Metro Vancouver is hiring for a bunch of jobs and some pay over $50 an hour

The Metro Vancouver Regional District has job openings available, and some have very appealing wages.

Working for Metro Vancouver means working for one of the most impactful organizations in B.C.

Headquartered near Metrotown, Metro Vancouver provides utility services, including water, sewer, and wastewater treatment, to the region.

It also runs air quality statements for the 21 municipalities, one electoral area, and one treaty First Nation it represents.

And with over three million residents in B.C.’s most populous region, your job will be an important one.

One of the roles with a relatively low barrier to entry is the office assistant position. Located at the Metro Vancouver head office, the job pays up to $81,000 per year. The position requires three years of experience in a similar role. Skills related to customer service are also needed.

A higher-level position, regional planner II, offers a significantly higher salary. The hired applicant could be paid up to $5,300 bi-weekly, or $137,800 per year. The Regional Planning & Housing Services position requires university graduation at the master’s level in regional, urban, environmental or transportation planning with considerable related professional experience, or an equivalent of training and experience.

Through the Liquid Waste Services Department, Metro Vancouver is also hiring a digital control software specialist (system administration). The role requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field, along with three years of job experience, or a two-year technology diploma in computer systems, accompanied by five years of job experience.

The salary for this Metro Vancouver job opportunity is $50.80 per hour, plus 6.25 per cent deferred compensation.

Anyone with a skilled trades background should look at the full-time temporary position of construction worker, which offers an hourly wage of $33.70, plus 6.25 per cent deferred compensation. The successful applicant will work at the Lake City Operations Centre and must have completed Grade 12 (or equivalent) and possess the ability to operate small hand tools and small power equipment, and pneumatic or hydraulic tools.
