Mat Collective outdoor yoga returns to Vancouver just in time for summer

The Mat Collective outdoor yoga season will be returning to Vancouver on Tuesday, June 9, but this time with an added cost to participants as a direct result of COVID-19.
The return of the yoga series comes as the province has implemented Phase 2 of its restart plan and restrictions on recreation are being lifted.
The classes range in price ($12.50 to $18.50) with a portion going directly to subsidize passes for those facing barriers to participation.

An additional 20% of the proceeds goes to support the small businesses, private clubs, and organizations that would normally donate their spaces for classes but can no longer do so due to COVID-19.
Participants will also be required to pre-register and can expect limited class sizes and wide spacing between mats in an effort to practice physical distancing. There will also be two class offerings per evening to accommodate reduced class sizes and meet the demand for additional spots.

“Like many people, we lost a lot during the pandemic as individuals and as an organization. We didn’t know if a season was possible, but our focus until now has been on supporting our friends, our neighbours, and our city,” said Selina Pechlaner, head of Mat Collective, in a press release.

Vancouverites will be able to enjoy outdoor yoga all the way into September, dependant on weather and safety.
“We feel extremely fortunate that we now have a chance to re-open and that what we offer can add value, now more than ever, to Vancouver in a challenging time. It won’t be the same kind of season we are used to seeing, but classes are happening. They will be intimate and focused on bringing some of the best parts of Mat Collective together in a safe environment.”
