Police in Maple Ridge are investigating after two different teenage girls reported that a man sexually assaulted them while they were on their way to school Thursday morning.

The incidents both occurred between 7:30 am and 7:45 am and police said that while the girls do not know each other, each of them described a similar suspect and circumstance.

The first incident occurred in the area of 210th Street – just north of Dewdney Trunk Road – while the second incident occurred at a bus stop on Dewdney Trunk Road near Laity Street.

In both instances, police said, the suspect approached the victims from behind, grabbed their buttocks and then left the scene.

Both the girls described the suspect as a Caucasian man in his early 20s, and approximately 6’ tall with a slim build. He was wearing a dark hoodie with the hood up and jeans at the time of the incident.

Ridge Meadows RCMP said that as the investigation is in the early stages at this point, they are not able to offer any further details
