Man dies after Thursday night shooting in Richmond park

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called after a man was shot and killed in Richmond on Thursday evening.

In a statement, Richmond RCMP say police were called to the scene at about 8:30 pm following a report of shots heard in a park near the area of Moncton St. at No.1 Rd.

When police arrived on the scene, they located a man suffering from gunshot wounds. The man was taken to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

Police say the area around the park has been cordoned off.

IHIT is working in partnership with Richmond RCMP Serious Crime Unit (SCU) and Watch General Investigative Services (WGIS) to conduct a full investigation.
