A record-breaking lottery prize left a B.C. man stunned by his good fortune.

Toni Matic of Kamloops, B.C., has been revealed as the winner of a top prize of $5 million from a $50 Extreme Scratch & Win ticket.

Extreme is a nationally distributed ticket with a top prize of $5,000,000 and over $200,000,000 in lower-level prizes randomly distributed across Canada.

According to BCLC, some prizes may have already been claimed at the time of purchase.

Matic purchased his ticket from the 7-Eleven on Summit Drive in Kamloops. Upon learning that he had won the top prize, he shared that he thought, “Are those numbers really that big?”

The B.C. man isn’t the only recent big winner when playing Scratch & Win tickets.

An Alberta man is $1 million richer after buying a lucky scratch ticket during a quick stop at a gas station.

His first call after learning of his win was to his mom, saying that he made a video of himself checking the ticket to send to her, and then there were “happy tears.”

And an Ontario woman is gearing up to purchase a home thanks to a huge lottery prize.

She says that the experience of winning the lottery at such a young age has been “unreal.”

“It’s pretty crazy if you ask me!” the 20-year-old said with a laugh.
