Vancouver restaurant shutting down only six months after opening

We’re only a week into 2025, and we have another restaurant closure to report; this time, it’s the Korean eatery Ju Restaurant.
“It was not a long journey for Ju, but it was enough time to be filled with your warmth and love. It has been a pleasure serving our dishes to you,” shared the restaurant online.

Ju Restaurant, located at 782 Cambie Street, Vancouver, opened its doors on July 4, 2024. The space was previously occupied by Black Rice Izakaya, which closed its doors after 10 years of operation.
“We are incredibly grateful for your support to Ju and Black Rice Izakaya throughout the years, and please continue to support our local restaurants,” continued the restaurant.
Dished reached out to Ju to learn more about the closure.
“I know it only lasted 6 months,” said General Manager Young Shin, “but it also was enough time to learn that the concept and type of cuisine does not belong in the neighbourhood.”
“Although we have good reviews, feedback, and lots of happy customers, we decided to close the location.”
Ju Restaurant will operate until Sunday, January 19.
