Another longtime restaurant in Vancouver's West End announces closure

After a decade of operation, Hook Restaurant has shared the news that it will be closing its doors before the end of the month.
“It has been an honour to have served this beachside corner for all these years and become a part of an irreplaceable community. We will never forget you, so I hope you never forget us,” wrote the restaurant.

Hook has been a go-to spot in English Bay since it opened back in 2017. The restaurant is best known for its oyster bar and seafood offerings, as well as its dog-friendly patio.
Its final day of operation will be Oct. 30.

Many people took to the comments to share how much they would miss the seafood spot.
“[I] will never get over the loss of this place, from my local to my workplace and where I went to see friends and family. [I] will forever miss it,” wrote one person.
“NOOOOOOOOOOO literally the best menu, HOTTEST staff and the most magical vibes,” added another.
“Sad news. Thank you for being a fond memory of my first visit to Vancouver!” shared a third.
However, one commenter did point out that Hook is located just steps away from the soon-to-close Bayside Lounge, which will shutter after 47 years of operation.
“We know this news will be deeply felt by our entire bayside family. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing memories, celebrating our people, and welcoming you back to enjoy Bayside together. Whether you’ve been coming for decades or only recently found us, we’d love to see you before our final night. Come raise a glass, share a story, and help us celebrate 47 unforgettable years,” wrote Bayside.
