'This is my greatest fear': 47-year-old Vancouver restaurant announces closure and people are gutted

After an incredible 47 years of operation, Bayside Lounge has announced that it will be closing.

“It’s with heavy hearts that we have to share that Bayside Lounge will close its doors at the end of the month — it honestly doesn’t feel real,” wrote the restaurant on its Instagram.

Bayside Lounge is located in the West End and is best known for its cocktails and the view of English Bay. It first opened its doors in 1979 and is expected to close by the end of the month.

“To our regulars, neighbours, visitors, DJs and every team member who has been part of Bayside over the years — thank you. You’ve made this much more than a lounge. You’ve made it a place for friendships, celebrations, and memories that will stay with us,” added the restaurant.

“We know this news will be deeply felt by our entire bayside family. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing memories, celebrating our people, and welcoming you back to enjoy Bayside together.
