Honda Celebration of Light 2016 road closures

The 26th annual Honda Celebration of Light begins this weekend, and along with the fireworks spectacular comes some major road closures to ensure public safety.

Certain roads are blocked from 7:30 pm. until after crowds have dispersed, which usually happens at around 11 p.m. Access roads into Kitsilano Point are closed at around 6 pm.

Only residents will be permitted to drive in blocked areas and must show valid parking permits or other proof of their address. Towing will be heavily enforced and there will be police surrounding the blocked areas.

Here’s a list of all the roads that will be blocked:

• Davie Street from Denman Street to Thurlow Street
• Denman Street from Beach Avenue to Alberni Street
• Robson Street from Guilford Street to Thurlow Street
• Nelson Street from Guilford to Thurlow
• Beach Avenue from Guilford to Thurlow
• Bidwell Street from Beach Avenue to Alberni Street
• Cardero Street from Beach to Alberni
• Nicola Street from Beach to Alberni
• Broughton Street from Beach to Alberni
• Jervis Street from Beach to Alberni
• Bute Street from Beach to Alberni
• Thurlow Street from Beach to Alberni
• All roads between Arbutus Street to Chestnut Street near Vanier Park

  • Wednesday, July 27: Australia, represented by Howard’s Fireworks
  • Saturday, July 30: United States, represented by the Walt Disney Company
• Time: 10 to 10:25 pm (25-minute duration every night)
• Location: English Bay, Vancouver

Rain or shine, each fireworks display begins at 10 p.m. and ends at 10:25 p.m.
