Another resident at Holy Family Hospital has died of their coronavirus infection, the South Vancouver long-term care centre announced Sunday.

This brings the facility’s total coronavirus death toll to eight people.

The outbreak there is widening as six more staff members tested positive for the virus as of Sunday.

“We offer our heartfelt condolences to everyone who has lost a loved one during this difficult time,” the facility said in a statement Sunday.

Since its coronavirus outbreak began on June 9, 42 residents and 24 staff have caught the virus.

Right now, the outbreak is confined to Holy Family’s long-term care facility. There have been no confirmed cases at its attached rehabilitation centre.

According to BC health officials, there are only three coronavirus outbreaks at long-term care centres across the province. Holy Family is one of them.
