Vancouver's sandwich-fuelled half marathon returns this year

After its sold-out debut, Vancouver’s Hoagie Half is returning in September, inviting teams of four to participate in a truly unique half marathon relay.
The event is part 21 km relay race, part sandwich food tour of some of the city’s best independent sandwich shops. Each runner will tackle one leg of the marathon, racing to a sandwich shop, grabbing a sandwich, and taking it back to base.

“We wanted to create something that feels less like a traditional race and more like a city-wide celebration,” said co-founder Oll Farrell. “Whether you’re chasing a podium finish or just looking for an unforgettable day with friends, The Hoagie Half brings together incredible local restaurants, running, and community in a way that’s completely unique.”
Participating restaurants in the Vancouver race include Say Hey CafĂ©, Meat & Bread, Vennie’s, and Cream Pony.
