Busy Highway 1 Vancouver exit will shut down again for repairs

Drivers heading into Vancouver on Highway 1 should brace for more detours this week as another off-ramp closure returns to a busy stretch of the city.
The northbound offramp (Exit 27) at East 1st Avenue will be closed from Friday, July 4, to Sunday, July 13, according to the Ministry of Transportation and Transit.
Itās the second time in recent weeks that this offramp has shut down to allow City of Vancouver crews to carry out sewer-upgrade work along East 1st Avenue.
“The ministry will advise if any further closures impacting the highway are needed,” the ministry said in a press release on Thursday.
The closure also affects left-turn access to the Highway 1 northbound on-ramp from East 1st, which will be blocked off for the duration of the work.
Drivers heading westbound are being told to detour via East Hastings or McGill Street and to expect delays through the area.
This is one of several Highway 1 disruptions affecting Metro Vancouver drivers this summer.
In Burnaby, a separate closure at Exit 33 (Kensington Avenue) is currently in place until Aug. 31, as crews address pavement settlement issues that have created bumpy road conditions.
