Phone chargers recalled due to overheating causing fire, electric shock
Health Canada has issued a recall for a Belkin phone charger and its stand due to overheating, posing fire and electric shock hazards.
According to the February 11 recall, the item, Belkin Portable Wireless Charger and Stand Special Edition, poses as a fire hazard due to a manufacturing defect in the power supply which can cause it to malfunction and overheat.
Those who have the product are asked to stop using it and to return it to Belkin for a full refund.
The company has reported that 221 units were sold in Canada from July 2020 to October 2020.
“As of January 26, 2021, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada,” said Health Canada.
