Community-focused Vancouver cafe temporarily closes with plans to reopen

Grandmama’s Cafe has temporarily closed its doors while undergoing renovations and a change in its management.

Grandmama’s was started by the husband-and-wife team of Irfan and Sana Hakim, but it was also designed by their daughter, Ilham, and established by their son, Wahed.
The couple, who relocated with their family to Vancouver from Mumbai, named the business after their late mothers as a way of honouring their family recipes, love of food, and worldly travels.

We visited the spot back in 2022 and enjoyed its variety of sweet and savoury waffles, alongside some lunch fare, such as its butter chicken.
